A mystery!
Today I get an e-mail from Fedex:

This tracking update has been requested by:

________________________________________________________________________________

SHIPPER of AST GLOBAL ELECTRONICS sent Dillion, Brendan of --- 1 FedEx Home Delivery package(s).

This shipment is scheduled to be sent on 01/10/2008.

Followed by a tracking number. I haven't ordered anything from, or even heard of AST Global Electronics before today. Apparently they sell electronics test equipment - oscilloscopes, voltmeters and the like.

I have no idea who would be sending me electronics equipment. There is very little on that site below $100 (though they seem to be having a sale). My name was spelled wrong, so that narrows down who it could be. (Not by much, though; my name is commonly misspelled that way.) It doesn't look like it's a mistake, though, since I'm not a prior customer and they have my name, address and mailing address. (I checked my credit cards and found nothing unusual.) My only clue is that the package is 4.6 pounds.

What sort of equipment am I receiving, who ordered it, and to what end? I suppose I'll find out when it arrives, probably Saturday.

Methinks you have a geeky groupie, mayhaps? I shall await an illuminating post on Saturday!

Maybe someone is sending you a gift to further your vodka experiments.

No, it wasn't me. :)

That thought occurred to me too. But vodka doesn't conduct electricity very well.
